Why should we develop tolerance towards Stupidity..
Stupidity in question here is not the ignoramus low IQ and understanding of those who don’t intend to develop their intellect or intelligence beyond a point. There isn’t any point in developing tolerance or forbearance to such actions, as they don’t elicit meaningful outcome to any of the parties concerned.
The kind of stupidity or insanity, and the craziness which requires forbearance from our community and the peer group is actually the audacity of our fellow being’s thought process on imagining the unconceivable actions to that day. That small niche who have the vision and conviction to realize today’s impossible into a possible reality and has the utter candor to be vocal about it.
Over the course of Human history, we have witnessed and have been testament to a lot of unconventional myths being busted out and we have seen that a small subset of radical thinkers have been the torch bearers of proving these myths wrong. All of these radical thinkers were first mocked, ridiculed, mimicked to be the crazy ones, until they proved their point to the larger audience, only to be later celebrated as the greatest visionaries of this world.
Dating back to the early centuries, we have so many names that are synonymous with such radical thinking and going against populist theories and notions.
Stalwarts & Scholars like Archimedes, Pythagoras & my personal favorite Galileo Galilei from early centuries were all such radical thinkers who had the might and ability to think crazy enough and were deemed insane by their peer group, but proved their point and are now considered the greatest philosophers and scholars to this day.
These legends had the audacity to think against populist sentiments, to the very existence of the Human kind and it’s functionalities ranging from astronomical ideas to a larger religious thought process.
Just ponder upon this thought of a person, who goes against the entire Human race and calls that the world is sphere, wherein it was considered flat until he could prove them wrong. Such is the audacity of this radical thinking.
Fast forward to our present day, we are living in such an informed age wherein people have access to the world’s knowledge and happening at their fingertips, the next instant. But, somehow our world is more polarized than before. The latest advancements in technology have somehow made people more ideally disconnected than before.
In spite of all the digital tools and informants available at their disposal, somehow people are still ignorant and stupid enough to not know the basic ideals and worldly mechanics. Instead of developing the Human intellect and unconventional thinking, our digital doodles have somehow hampered our thought process and reduced their radical thinking abilities and made most of them intellectually lazy.
As much as we have become polarized, we have become akin to stupidity and absurdity. People get provoked by the simplest means of rational thinking and opposite views. We have inculcated the culture of debating even the simplest thing which doesn’t yield any meaningful outcome. Social Media & it’s doppelganger rather than being a catalyst agent of differential thoughts and unconventional view points have somehow become the champions of polarization. People who outthink their peer group and imagine the unimaginable and outwit their fellow beings are made a troll material both privately and in public.
Fortunately or Unfortunately, all of us are not egalitarian in our thoughts and ideals. It is this imbalance which strives towards our progress and develops the Human race. Unbeknownst to you, your peer might have a rather unconventional wisdom on worldly proceedings and ideals, let them not be mocked and ridiculed for thinking big and bold. Being benign to these radical thinkers will certainly be a growth engine and not the other way around.
Tolerance & Forbearance towards sane stupidity and unconventional thinking might seem a costly affair in a society in the present day, but that’s the gold well, the Human race keeps digging for.
